Blog #10 Asian American Themes

What are the themes and styles commonly found in contemporary Asian-American literature?
Some themes are about life, nature, seasons, and their cutlure

What defines Asian-American literature?
I think there writing styles defines Asian American lit. They write about seasons, nature and things like that. They also write in a different formart that american writers and other writers do.

How do the authors studied in this unit keep their culture alive through their writing?
They often write about there culture and their lives.

  1. It goes a little further than just writing about their culture. Most of the writing is also about trying to strike a balance between remaining true to their birth culture and fitting in with the American culture. That is particularly true of Tan's work, because she just wanted to pretend that her mother was as American as anyone else's mother.
