BLog #11 Native American Themes

In what ways are the modern themes of alienation, oppression of the individual, and the struggle for self-identity especially important in Native American literature?
Native americans have been put through alot in their time, they have been kicked off their land, killed, and stripped of all of their rights. Through the writings of Native Americans they can speak about there trib, culture and family history. THey are able to let out the pain they and their familys suffered.

  1. And when you think about it, Native Americans struggle on a lot more different levels than what we assume at first. To begin with, there are many, many Native American tribes, yet everyone assumes they are all alike. So they must maintain their Native American identity, the identity of their own particular tribes, and then they must also struggle WITHIN those tribes to be individuals. It's complicated!
