Blog #9 Contemporary Issues

Do you think it is fairly common that some mothers create resentment in their children by trying to do things they feel are in their children's best interests?
I do feel like they do. A mother always wants what's best for her child, she wants them to have everything she never did. But I think at times when a child does do better than their mother the mother has some resentment. I don't think they mean to, but they can't help feeling it.

Do you believe people grow up with certain personality traits that can't be changed?
In a way I do, and In a way i don't. Some people can go through something really tragic and come out completely different. But most people don't want to change who they are for anything.

  1. And just to complicate matters, mothers can only do what they THINK is the right thing for a child, never REALLY knowing. Mothers can't really see into the future, but sometimes we can better see a multitude of consequences for our children. It's such a dilemma!
